I just got bought shawn lane's power of ten album (the original pressing of Warner) the strangest thing is that it has a WICN 4-16-93 written down on the back in ink. the numbers must be the date, but I was wondering if the WICN meant a radio station or something. if it is then I must own a copy that went out as promotional use 😮 🙂

His music has truly changed my perception of what it means to be, not only a guitarist, but a musician ... I now hold much higher standards for everyone else 😀 Like others in this guestbook, I discovered shawn's music after he passed away ... I can only say that I'm sad to have not known about him earlier; I would have loved to see him live. My best wishes and support go to Shawn's coterie ... may he never be forgotten; his music will live on!

Hendrix and Shawn ... these are the names that change the way many people see the guitar. My question is ... Why genius people must die so early ? WHY, WHY, WHY ... Why every miracle is so short ? Rest in peace Shawn.

I just discovered this page. I am saddened to hear that Shawn passed away. I worked as a roadie for Black Oak Arkansas back in the summer of 1979, so had the pleasure of getting to know Shawn when he was only 16 (I was 18 at the time). Shawn, always shine down on us with your music..

shawn's music has moved me in a way i can't describe. its intense, its beautiful, its lyrical, its all that is good. unfortunately, i didn't discover his playing until 2004. just like danny gatton, i wish i had heard this stuff before he passed away. a kind person that happens to be a musical genius, what a blessing. shawn's heart and soul is in his music, and that will always live on. god bless

I have been reading many of the posts to this site and must say how proud I am of the effect Shawn has had on people around the world. I was a friend of Shawn's 25 years ago in Memphis and was quite influenced by his playing. I am also a musician but not of the caliber of Shawn as I believe very few can come close. I still have a cassette that Shawn gave me prior to his first album release and have put it on my computer and CD since I am afraid that the tape will not last much longer. This is a prized possession of mine. Hopefully people will support this site and help keep Shawn's memory alive.

I had the chance to meet Shawn personally in 1996 having a dinner with him and other friends in a restaurant close to Namur in Belgium. I met Shawn at a clinic in Ciney that day, and I knew him as a great guitarist and a nice, warm, gentele and educated person.I found back the pictures of that day, during the last week in my attic. I knew only today that he passed away two years ago and I feel really sad of it.

I was truly saddened when Shawn passed on. Shawn and Allan Holdsworth were my biggest influences on guitar. I learned so much from listening to his playing. What I learned from him the most was to follow my own muse, and to strive for total expression, and to play with the utmost passion. People ask me about the guys I dig, Shawn is always first or second on my list. To his familly: Thankyou for carrying on his dream, and I tell you now, every note I play carries a lesson I learned from him.
