I could ramble on about how much Shawn's music has touched me. It's inspired my playing to new highs, and every note he plays touches me to this day. His music touches my heart and soul, and his music will never fade away. RIP Shawn Lane.

A little more than 10 years ago, I met Shawn at a guitar clinic. His playing was immensely prodigious at the same time beautiful. He was nice enough to have a conversation with me, and he autographed the first guitar I've ever owned along with a personal message. I greatly respect his admiration of east indian music and how he incorporated it into his playing. Those of us who know and love Shawn's music...we shall meet again!

I was blessed to have Shawn in my life for several years. He was great friends with my ex husband John Scott and he was over at the house often, we were at his gigs, he was at ours or we were recording or hanging out at his house. I am so sorry to hear of his passing away. He was such a kindred spirit and now he is able to bless the heavens with his spirit! Sincerely, Elisa

well i purchased, shawns powers of ten cd in 1993 and the music really inspired me to the point of writing a song called express yourself! which won me a place in the finals of the guitarist of the year 1994 i thank shawn for that. i still listen to powers of ten, and only yesterday i found more musical treasure hidden in the songs. shawn can be compared to the great composers! he really was one of the greatest muscians the world has ever seen. he is so much missed,if you want to grow as a muscian you need to listen to shawn lanes music. 😉 🙁

To My Beloved Cousins, I hope everyone is doing well. Shawn was a true musical genius who still brings me much happines everytime I listen to his music. He was truly an intellectual as well as a very gifted and talented musician. My earliest memories of Shawn, besides our family get togethers, were when he use to bring his guitar to Bear Creek at age 12 and set up outside of grandmother's house. I remember bringing friends over and watching their jaw drop when they heard him play. We would name a song and he would play it, from Zepelin to Hendix to Beck, if he had ever heard the song, he could play it. I am also so very thankful that I got to see him play with BOA in Bham and how much fun we had after the concert. I also cherish getting to go back stage when BOA played in Huntsville in 1979 with Ten Years After and Blackfoot. I was so proud to tell everyone that "hey, that's my cousin". I miss him very much and I know that Shawn and Lisa are in heaven smiling down upon us. I hope to come see you sometime this summer. I love each of you with all my heart!!!

I did not realize Shawn Lane passed away until a year ago...2005. I had been listening to "Powers of Ten" for years. I decided to do a google search for him and thats how I found out. This is sad...Shawns music is deep and some of the best Ive heard. Not many guitar players can play as many notes as he did and still have a great song. He was definately a musical genius.
