A couple of months ago I heard about Shawn Lane and I was amazed at the talent. I;ve been learning his music ever since and its made me realise what music is all about. The passion and emotion that Shawn puts in is just lovely. Makes me feel good when I see him playing in live videos. I felt sad when Randy Rhoads died and now I feel very sad that Shawn isn't alive anymore. R.I.P

Shawn Lane was an amazing person. Both as musician and as a person. I play guitar myself and I remember how close my jaw was to the floor while watching a clip of him playing for the first time. You are truly missed by so many. I hope that you are in a good place, still feeling and expressing your love for music. Carl

I feel so cheated...I just recently even found out about Shawn. I can't believe I hadn't heard of such a fabulous musician. Obviously he could have had any degree of celebrity that he wanted with talent like that. I read somewhere that he was content to kind of 'fly under the radar and do his own thing.' Some people can study music, practice, and learn to play music, but it's obvious that Shawn was the music...and music like that can never be silenced or forgotten. I realize it's easy to feel sad of his loss, but you should feel blessed for having him.

Dear Diane and the rest of the Lane family first off I'd like to extend my deepest sympathy for your loss. I have no idea how it is losing someone so close but I can imagine it hurts. I'm very much inspired by Shawn's work and am actually saving up for one of his Master signature Vigier guitars. I play progressive metal mostly so most people are like "oh that won't suit your style blah blah blah" but I don't care. I'm buying it on a complete whim never tried the guitar or anything and I'll be dropping about $3,000 into getting it. Why? The music he created was so incredibly beautiful and inspirational that I can only aspire to become 1/2 no not even 1/2 a millionth of the musician he was. I've also heard such great things about Vigier. I live in Tennessee and my girlfriend is a big supporter of me wanting to become a solo musician like Shawn was so I'd like to visit his grave in Memphis sometime and pay my respect. It's the least I can do when he's done so much for musicians and especially for me. Shawn Lane may not be with us now but his music lives on!

I only discovered Shawn Lane recently - I don't know how i missed him for so long - but i am so pleased i found his music. [Surely there must be a DAT of another live recording somewhere that can be released - especially of the last time he got together with Hellborg and Sipes for the East Coast tour???]

I first heard Sean on his Powers of Ten Album. The experience was like the first time I heard Steve Morse, I knew that I was hearing musical genius, but I wasn't exactly sure that I could understand it. I put the album up for a while after listening to it once, I got it back out about a week later and gave it another shot, soon it would stay on for extended periods, and the music became intelligible to me. Sean was so advanced that even today his stuff blows most artists away. I have three favorite guitarists, Steve Morse, John Petrucci and Shawn, I wish he was still here, the world is in short supply of players like him. R.I.P. Shawn, I miss you.

There will never be another Shawn Lane. I wish that he could have still been with us to continue making beautiful music, but the music he did leave us lives on forever in my heart. Shawn, your musical sensitivity and passion will always be an inspiration to me, though I will never play like you.
